Legendary Disney Imagineer Martin A. “Marty” Sklar passed away in his Hollywood Hills home a few weeks ago. He was 83. Born in New Brunswick, N.J., on February 6, 1934.
Most Disney geeks know his name from all those years he worked with the company. Later in his career he spoke at many Disney events ,like D23 and wrote a few books. His career spanned 54 years. But the real amazing thing is he really worked with Walt Disney. So having him around was like have a piece of Walt still here.
He created The Disneyland News for Walt’s new theme park in 1955. Then became Walt's right hand man, writing speeches, creating marketing materials and he made the film for promoting Disney World and Epcot Center. He has done so many things for the Disney company and his personal achievements, my fingers are hurting already.
This guy was great. He had so much personal knowledge about Disney and was someone anyone would love to call friend. I think the world was a better place because Marty Sklar was in it. He will be missed.
